Winning is always a great feeling; however it is very special when we beat our oldest rival, Ferencváros. To add icing on the cake, the win took place at the stadium named after Kispest’s world famous legendary player. The team is starting to gel and thus we’re not very happy about the break due to the National team’s matches. The game didn’t start out well for us. Fradi exerted a great deal of pressure and within the first few minutes got three corners kicks. After the third one, they even took the lead in the 11th minute. It must be said that we gave away the first part of the half, while the team was finding itself. After this however we started to dictate the tempo and created several good opportunities. In the 37th minute Daud took a corner, Alcibade was left alone and easily headed the ball into the net, equalizing before the half (1:1).
Our opponent started the second half the same way, but Kemenes made a great save Holman’s scoring effort. Our defense had to make two additional stops within the next few minutes. In the 53rd minute, we took the lead. Job dribbled down the side following a lightning quick counter attack. His pass was first intercepted, but he was able to get it back. Then with his second attempt he found Daud across the field. His header found the back of the net with an assist from the goalpost (1:2). Several hundred red and black fans went wild in the guest sector, while motioning “quiet” to the several thousand Fradi fans across the way. Neither team scored after this and we deservedly came away with the win. Fradi hasn’t beaten us at their home since 2006.
